Gas Leak at Military Highway near Indian River Road
The gas leak on Military Highway has been secured by Virginia Natural Gas, and any odor should dissipate. No businesses or homes in Virginia Beach are impacted by any natural gas disruptions. Southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Military Highway are now open.

Thank you, Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) and Dominion Energy for their quick response in coordination with Virginia Beach public safety and Public Works teams.
What is happening now? VNG has secured the leak and is working to repair the pipe. Dominion Energy is working in conjunction with VNG to safely return power to impacted area, which will take time. Thank you for your patience.

- Electric power has been turned off to a small area at the 700 block of Military Highway. Approximately 700 locations, to include businesses and residences, are without power.
- The City is actively working with Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) to assess the extent of the impacts.
- City response resources have been mobilized.
- Emergency Response Plans have been activated.
